A Mexican couple died and their daughter was hurt when their balloon caught on fire and fell to the ground in Mexico City.
According to Mexican authorities, Regina Itzani, the daughter of the deceased, sustained a fractured arm during her leap from the fiery gondola. The broken arm and second-degree burns on Itzani’s body aren’t a sign of the end.
The family was visiting Teotihuacan, a popular tourist spot, on a fun ride. They were from the city of Caujimalpa de Morelos.
It is uncertain whether a pilot was present aboard the balloon, which appeared to remain firmly attached to the ground. The balloon wilted quickly after, and the gondola hurtled to the ground as occupants appeared to either fall out or jump out.
Initial reports said it might be connected to the fuel storage system.
A selfie was taken by the family before their tragic ride. According to reports on the internet, the trip was a birthday present planned by Regina and her dad for Viridiana.
