On Monday 01.15.2024, a small plane fell on Route 5 South, in the commune of Talca, Chile. As a result of the incident, the pilot of the aircraft, Fernando Solans Robles (58), died. While four other people, all civilians who were at the scene, were injured.
As for the pilot, they assured that he had “vast experience in aerial firefighting,” and they also indicated that he was of Spanish nationality and that he provided services to the company Air Andes Chile SPA. However, “due to a maneuver by the small plane (which is under investigation), it crashed on the east side of Route 5 South.” The small plane collided with a power line pole, “capping over Route 5 South and impacting a smaller vehicle, causing the aircraft to catch fire at the scene, which would have caused the death of the pilot.”
